Voice Lesson
I started voice lessons.
The starting breath and how we continue to breathe determines the sound coming out.
That first breath sets the tone for the rest of the song. If to shallow, we're left gasping at awkward breaks searching for more oxygen. If too full and never fully exhaled, the song gets to intense and we are left uptight and, again, gasping - looking for where to put the oxygen.
I was struck with the idea of how much this is like our faith walk.
Yahweh.
(often explained as the sound of breathing in and out, yet too sacred to speak)
Adonai.
(the aloud name of God to the before mentioned Yahweh)
Jesus.
(a God who pursues us, and is with us)
How we set up our moment.. day... life...
makes a difference.
If not enough God in my life, I am left gasping.
If He is never let out in my life, I am suffocating.
Our faith must be let out. We talk a lot about how we need more God in our lives, and sometimes I think we need to remember that God should pour out of us as well... His grace, His love, His mercy, His joy, His lament, His sorrow, His heart.

Today marks week one of Brian's rotation and finding my breathing rhythm has been more challenging than I thought it would be. For those who know me, also know my independence. I've been saying, "I can do it!" since I was a baby. Yet, I have had to relearn how to breathe... How to make sure that I am inhaling Jesus AND exhaling Jesus.
Accepting help.
Giving help.
In. Out.
Learning.
Sharing.
In. Out.
Christ descended.
In the depths, He is there.
Yet.
In the wings of the dawn, He is there.
For He also ascended.
God meets us in the valley. Inhale.
May we meet each other in the valley. Exhale.
